Shooter Standoff at Farm King Near Western Illinois University in Macomb
In Macomb, IL police have confirmed that a shooter entered the Farm King in the town that hosts Western Illinois University. The shooter allegedly entered the building and opened fire. Since police aarrived, there have been reports that the gunman has shot more than 20 rounds in the direction of police.
WIU released messages via: e-mail, text, and phone call informing students about the situation at hand. At this time classes are still in session. I happen to attend WIU, and many people around campus are saying the suspect is a young white male, wearing a green jacket, and carrying a shotgun. The police have yet to identify the suspect, but it is believed they know who he is. The suspects mother allegedly called police informing them it was her son. It is unknown how the woman knew it was her son committing the crime.
I will keep you all updated with news of standoff between the gunman and police, and any other rumors that are floating around the WIU campus about this situation.
Update: It is unclear at this time if anyone has been injured or killed at the scene of the crime.
