Ben RoethlisbergerThis will mark the first time since the 2007 season that Ben Roethlisberger has not been named one of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ team captains ESPN.com reports. There is a vote within the team to decide who the captains are, and the non-election of Big Ben holds a few indicators.

Roethlisberger will, for the first time, have to earn his team’s trust. After his first off-the-field incident, he was welcomed back to the team as a captain. After this latest sexual assault allegation, the team is weary and will not let Ben waltz into the locker room as their captain, even though he is their captain, literally, on the field.

The captains of the Pittsburgh Steelers for the upcoming season will include: WR Hines Ward, TE Heath Miller, LB James Farrior and LB Keyaron Fox.

Roethlisberger will return as the team’s starter on October 17th against the Cleveland Browns.
