Arsenal have suffered an fresh injury blow with Robin Van Persie being ruled out for up to six weeks.

The Dutch striker will be out of action until mid-October after aggravating an ankle injury he sustained in the Gunner’s 2-1 win over Blackburn.

After missing a large part of last season, Van Persie was hoping things would change this year with the player performing well during the Netherlands World Cup campaign.

The club website confirmed the injury by stating: “Robin van Persie will have to wait a little longer before he is back in the first-team frame. The Dutchman injured his ankle against Blackburn Rovers on August 28 and will be sidelined for longer than first anticipated.”
