USA is the Fattest Country Among Nations With Developed Economies

The USA is the fattest nation out of 33 countries that have developed economies. Obesity in the United States has skyrocketed since the 1980′s, and now, finally, after eating super size fires and triple stack cheeseburgers, the US has claimed the top spot on the world’s obesity list.

According to the report, which came from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in Italy, more than 2/3 of the US population is overweight of obese. About 1/3 of adults in the US, are more than 30 lbs over a healthy weight. According to USA Today, that’s more than 72 million obese adults in the United States.

The OECD, works on policies to promote better economies, as well as better qualify of life. Unfortunately, America seems to have a problem with both.

“Obesity is a growing threat to public health in all the advanced countries throughout the world,” OECD spokesman Matthias Rumpf says.

The report says that The United States, Australia, and England have the fastest growing obesity rates.

“We have to find the most effective and cost-efficient way to deal with the problem,” Rumpf says. “Countries can learn from each other, and the best and most effective policies can be used in all countries.”
