Historic Day for US – 6 Medals at Winter Olympics
February 17th could have possibly been the greatest day in USA Winter Olympic history. There might not have been any miracles, but the US Olympic team won 6 medals in a single day, 3 of which were gold. It is a feat that has never before accomplished by the US.
12 years ago, at thee 1988 games, The United States won 6 medals throughout the entire Olympics.
Lindsey Vonn brought home gold limping on one leg. Shani Davis and Shaun White both took home a back to back golds. Davis in the 1000 meter speed skating event, and White in the half pipe. Only four times in history has a Winter Olympic athlete repeated in the same event.
The US now leads in the overall medal count with 14.
