What a wild season thus far for the Minnesota Vikings. They banked on Favre returning to last season’s MVP-esque form, and now they find themselves grouped among mediocre of the league. Now, ESPN.com is reporting that QB Brett Favre has two fractures in his ankle, and his status for next week’s game is uncertain.
An MRI revealed that Favre is suffering an avulsion fracture, which occurs when a tendon or ligament is separated from bone, and also a stress fracture. Both injuries are within Favre’s left ankle.
“Once he’s functional he can play. … I wouldn’t rule anything out in terms of the end of the week. I don’t really have a time framework on it,” said coach Childress.
The injuries were sustained when Favre was hit during a pass, which turned out to be an interception. His status for next week’s game is unknown, but the injuries will not require surgery.
Favre is currently wearing a walking boot to help the healing process.
