A Japanese man committed suicide this week, and he streamed the event live to an online audience. The man was egged on by the chat room before he eventually hung himself.

According to the Telegraph, some viewers alerted police, but they could not get to his apartment on time. The 24-year-old man, who was found dead early on Tuesday morning, has not been named.

The man announced his intentions to kill himself online last week, and on Sunday he started a live stream on the website, Ustream. The man repeated his claim that he was going to kill himself, and complained about how he had just suspended from his job.

There were a few people who tried to talk him out of it, but most people encouraged him to commit suicide. The Telegraph speculates that many people probably thought they were watching a hoax.

Ustream halted the broadcast when they found out what had happened.
