A gold 1995 to 2000 model year Honda Civic is being sought after leaving the scene of an accident on a California desert highway that killed five and injured six.
Ten motorcycles and one car were involved in the wreck.
The motorcyclists, from the Lakeside, California Saddle Tramps motorcycle group, were traveling together on their Harley-Davidsons as part of a leisurely 10th anniversary ride.
According to survivors, the Honda Civic passed the group of motorcycles but caused a Dodge Avenger to swerve in order to avoid hitting it. Instead, the Avenger hit the motorcycles head-on, causing a massive crash. Four of the five dead were motorcyclists. The remaining victim was a passenger in the Avenger.
Of the six injured, five are now in serious condition.
According to CNN, the California Highway Patrol is now seeking any information connected with the gold Honda Civic. Deeann Goudie, California Highway Patrol spokeswoman, said:
The gold Honda Civic left the scene without stopping and police want to talk with that driver.
She also added about the horror of the scene:
I was one of the first emergency officials on the scene. Of my 23 years on the department, it was the most devastating scene I’ve been to, and I’ve seen a lot of fatal accidents.
