Taylor Martinez Quits? Rumors About Nebraska QB Begin to Circulate

Taylor Martinez has quit the Nebraska football team. At least that is the rumor that is currently floating around, and according to Bleacher Reports, the rumor has been confirmed.

Bleacher Reports says that a grad assistant on the Cornhusker Football Team confirmed that Taylor Martinez quit. The rumor was also confirmed by the Big Red Critic blog, and Pregame.com.

Martinez was reportedly texting his father while getting his ankle taped up during the Texas A&M game. Martinez’s father has become more and more vocal about how his son plays, and even sent an angry email to coach Bo Pelini.

The text was allegedly the reason why Pelini chewed out Martinez during the Texas A&M game. Sources are reporting that Martinez quit shortly after.

As of right now, the rumors about Taylor Martinez quitting are not confirmed. But there is clearly tension between Martinez and coach Pelini, and if Martinez hasn’t quit yet, he may in the future.

    I find it difficult to believe a source that doesn’t even know the name of our head coach nor takes the time to double check. It’s BO…. not Bob. Thanks.

      Jj, it was a spelling mistake and was fixed about 2 minutes after the article was published. Our Page Cache takes 12-13 minutes to refresh if we forget to hit “Clear Cache.” Regardless all the sources materials remain as stated :)

      Hey Seward, Yeah, I agree lots more sources out there, we just reported at the time what was being said. We tried to be careful by placing the title with a question mark.

    9:35 p.m., Sunday: Taylor Martinez remains a member the Nebraska football team, coach Bo Pelini said Sunday night.

    Reached shortly before 8 p.m., Pelini said the status of his freshman quarterback had not changed since the end of Huskers’ 9-6 loss Saturday at Texas A&M.

    “He’s still on the team,” the coach said.
