Sean Pierson

Sean Pierson was on top of the world after winning his UFC 124 fight versus Matt Riddle, however that elation was soon turned upside down when he was fired from his dream job as a police officer for the Toronto Police Department.

The station fired Pierson because he once had the nickname “Pimp Daddy” and because they believe the time he has to devote to training will get in the way of fighting crime.

Fighting back against the station, Pierson reminded everyone that the nickname came about when he was 23, 11 years ago, now he has a 2-year-old child and he has been married for nine years.

In a sad turn of events, Pierson hadn’t even served one day on the force before being asked to turn in his uniform.

A station spokesman told Yahoo Sports that all new hires must pass secondary employment, to which Pierson responded

“I can appreciate the position they’re in with what I do,” while adding, “I don’t look at mixed martial arts as a negative, but I think the mainstream still looks at us as a bit of a black eye.”

MMA may have finally been legalized in Ontario in August, but apparently conflicts of interest and politics are still making it hard for the sport to be accepted as a legitimate form of entertainment.

Hmmm…anyone else see the problem with having a highly trained fighter battling criminals on your streets? He should defect, I think the NYPD or LAPD would love to have him humiliating criminals fist to fist on the mean streets of their cities.
