The City of the Future? Tianjin Eco-City in China [Gallery]
China is currently working on plans to develop “the city of the future.” The Tianjin Eco-City in China was designed by the Surbana Urban Planning Group and is set to be completed by 2020.
The city will use many different green techniques to generate power and create sustainability. Tianjin Eco-City in China will use solar power, wind power, and will even recycle rain water. The residents, which there will be approximately 350,000, will live in places like the urban-scape, which will feature interconnected high-rise buildings, or the earth-scape, which will feature various greenery.
The solar-scape will act as the town center. The solar scape will be solar-powered, and will sit on the water. It will also feature a floating stage for town events.
The residential buildings in the urban-scape will be closely compacted and connected by sky-ways. The Surbana Urban Planning Group believes that there design will massively decrease the need for cars. The earth-scape will be the suburban area of Tianjin Eco-City in China. The stepped architecture of the earth-scape will maximize the potential for greenery.
The Surbana Urban Planning Group is also planning an advanced lightrail system that will further reduce the need for cars.
