The 41-year-old rap mogul is best known for his work as a recording artist and producer, although he is also a gifted actor, having received praise for his role in last year’s comedy Get Him to the Greek as well as appearing in 2001 drama Monster’s Ball.
The rapper’s next big acting role will be in US crime drama TV show Hawaii Five-0, which stars actors including Alex O’Loughlin, Scott Caan and Grace Park.
In the episode P. Diddy will portray a detective eager to avenge a crime committed against his family. According to reports, music from the rapper’s hip-hop collective Diddy-Dirty Money’s album Last Train to Paris will feature in the episode.
P. Diddy has spoken a great deal recently about his desire to pursue acting further, notably in the realm of comedy. Although the Hawaii Five-0 part will be in keeping with his dramatic roles, the star says he’s also keen to play more character roles.
“I’ve done a lot of drama mostly my whole career, with Broadway and Monster’s Ball and stuff like that — my short little career,” he told MTV. “But when I did Get Him to the Greek, I really fell in love with making people laugh. I have a knack for improvisation, and hopefully I’ll be able to make people laugh more.”
