Member of ‘Never Missed a Super Bowl’ Club to Miss Super Bowl XLV
Robert Cook is part of an exclusive club, the Never Missed a Super Bowl club. Cook, who is from Wisconsin, was hospitalized earlier this week and will not be able to attend Super Bowl XLV.
Cook and the three other members of the club gained fame when they were featured in a Visa commercial. The four men have been to every Super Bowl since 1967, when the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs faced off at the first Super Bowl. (Check out a video of the first Super Bowl here.) But this Super Bowl was special for Cook, because it featured his home team, the Green Bay Packers.
Sarah Cook, Robert’s wife, said:
“To have the Packers go to the Super Bowl, we were just over the moon about it.”
The Cooks were all packed and ready to go when Robert became very weak on Thursday. Robert and Sarah will be staying in Brown Deer, Wisconsin to watch the game. Their daughters will be going to Dallas in their place. The Associated Press reports that the two Cook girls are carrying an enlarged photo of their father that they’ll be waving at the Super Bowl today.
