Detroit Tigers Slugger Miguel Cabrera Charged With DUI

Miguel Cabrera isn’t starting Spring Training with the best record, but this time it’s of a criminal nature. The Detroit Tigers slugger was charged on Wednesday night with suspicion of drunken driving while cruising around Florida. You may recall that Cabrera has struggled with alcohol related issues in the past.
Cabrera was spotted by a deputy when his car was seen with a smoking engine on the side of the road. The Fort Pierce officer pulled over and could smell alcohol on Cabrera’s breath and says his speech was slurred. If that wasn’t enough proof that Cabrera had been drinking, he then pulled out a bottle of scotch and took a swig right in front of the officer.
After refusing to be cooperative with the officer backup was called to the scene to wrestle Cabrera into arrest.
In the police report Cabrera walked out into the road with his hands up and said to the officers:
“Do you know who I am? You don’t know anything about my problems,” before swearing at the officers.
Cabrera refused a breathalyzer test and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and resisting an officer without violence.
Cabrera was released at 7:45 a.m ET Thursday after he posted the required $1,350 bond.
