A US soldier fighting overseas has fallen desperately in love with you, and all he needs is a little cash to be a cell phone so that he can talk to you before he goes into battle. That’s the gist of a new Facebook scan. Con artists are impersonating soldiers, romancing women, and then asking for money.

Janice Robinson, a 53-year-old woman from Orlando, Florida, was nearly a victim of this new Facebook scan, but she could tell that something wasn’t right.

Robinson said:

“I said, ‘How can you say you love me? You don’t even know me. You are insane… You could tell the guy in the picture was young. I’m 53 years old. You can look at my picture and tell I’m not 20.”

Robinson didn’t fall for this new Facebook scam, but other’s haven’t been so lucky. The Associated Press reports that one woman was taken for $25,000.
