Terry Jones, the controversial leader of the Westboro Baptist Church, vowed to burn Korans on 9/11 last year. After mounting pressure, Jones said that he would not burn a Koran at Westboro Baptist Church. But when a Florida church decided to take on the task, Terry Jones rushed on over to lend his support.
The Koran was burned at a small church in Florida by pastor Wayne Sapp. The church held a mock trial for the Koran, before finding it guilty and sentencing it to execution by burning. A crowd of less than 30 people watched the book burning.
After vowing not to burn the Koran, Terry Jones said he has been ”trying to give the Muslim world an opportunity to defend their book,” but he has not received an answer.
