Winning Ticket to the 5th Largest Jackpot in Mega Millions History Sold in New York
Someone out there is $319 million richer. The winning ticket for Friday’s $319 million jackpot, the 5th largest in Mega Millions history, was sold at Coulson’s News Center in Albany, New York.
Store manager Steve Gallucci said that he doesn’t know who bought the winning ticket, but he expects to find out on Monday.
The $319 million prize is the fifth largest Mega Millions jackpot in history, but since there was only one winner, it will be the largest jackpot awarded to a single person in the game’s history. The largest ever Mega Millions win came in 2007 and totaled $390 million.
The winner will have the choice of taking a lump sum, or they can receive payments for the next 25 years. According to the Associated Press, the $319 million jackpot has a cash value of $202.9 million.
