Hitler’s Birthday Party Broken Up By Smoke Bomb
A group of about 60 people were celebrating Hitler’s 122nd birthday, as well as the start of the Civil War, at an Illinois restaurant last night. But the party was cut short when someone lit a few smoke bombs in the bathroom.
The party, which was held at P. J. Klem’s Restaurant & Banquet Hall in Lyons, Illinois, featured Nazi banners and birthday cakes. The Chicago Tribune reports that a man entered the restaurant to buy a sandwich, then lit off a few smoke bombs in the bathroom to sabotage the party.
Art Jones, chairman of the America First Committee, organized the party and said that there were about 60 people in attendance. According to UPI, the party had two cakes with the words ”Happy Birthday Adolf Hitler” and “The South Was Right. White Men Fight,” written on them.
Police said that it is unlikely that they catch the bomber, saying that ”the description we have to work off of is very vague.” Police did evacuate the restaurant to conduct a bomb search, but no explosives were found.
