Vick Speaks Out Against Dog Fighting App

Michael Vick has teamed up with the humane society to speak out against a new Google Android app that promotes dogfighting. The app, called “Dog Wars,” allows users to feed, water, and train their dogs for battle.

Vick said:

“I’ve come to learn the hard way that dogfighting is a dead-end street. Now, I am on the right side of this issue, and I think it’s important to send the smart message to kids, and not glorify this form of animal cruelty, even in an Android app.”

But Kage Wars, the creator of the app, says that it’s just a game. Kage Wars points out that there are many other similar apps that are seen as cute, like Gerbil Wars.

On a website where you can download the game, Kage Wars has a friendly reminder that Dog Wars is just a game.

Kage Wars says:

“If you have a bug up your b*tt about the game concept, remember: It is just A VIDEO GAME / Perhaps one day we will make gerbil wars or beta fish wars for people who can’t understand fantasy role play games / Just go slingshot some virtual birds to kill some virtual pigs / Go complain to someone who cares about Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Weed Farmer, Smoke a Bowl (these two are listed in the top 15 of casual games on Android Market) and maybe even Sierra’s Leisure Suit Larry from 1987 / This is listed as a HIGH MATURITY app, and does NOT violate the Terms of Use with the Google market in any way!!!”

But the Humane Society insists that Google should drop Dog Wars from the Android Market.

Humane Society President Wayne Pacelle said:

“Android should drop ‘Dog Wars’ from its online market and join the national movement to save dogs from this violent practice.”
