A British biotech company has introduced the “Viagra Condom.” While the name might suggest that the new condom will help men with erectile dysfunction, it’s actually meant to be used to maintain erections in healthy men.

The condom is coated with a vasodilating gel that keep blood flow moving to the penis, helping men last longer in bed and perhaps with that assumption, promoting more safe sex use among males.

The CEO of maker Futura tells the Wall Street Journal:

“The tough part of designing the condom wasn’t making the gel; the material is commonly used for treating chest pains that stem from a lack of blood flow to the heart. The difficulty was making sure the substance is “immobilized in the condom,” so it affects only the wearer”

Futura also had to ensure that unlike some products, the latex wouldn’t quick degrade when a new substance was added.

The new “Viagra Condom” is set to reach the UK soon and will go under US regulators scrutiny before it will be allowed in the United States.
