‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ Will Set iMax Record

Disney on Tuesday announced that their movie Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will set a new iMax record when the movie opens on Friday May 20. According to executives the movie is set to debut on 257 iMax screens domestically, the largest ever opening for the large screen format.

Another six iMax theaters will also carry the movie after the initial Friday launch. On Stranger Tides will also open Internationally on 139 iMax screens with advanced ticket sales doing very well both domestically and internationally.

The iMax 3D experience has been re-mastered to match the large screen formats quality standards for both video using IMAX DMR (Digital Re-Mastering) and audio.
