Happy National Donut Day! Stores like Krispy Kreme and Dunkin’ Donuts are celebrating National Donut Day today by giving away some of their tasty treats.
And National Doughnut Day isn’t just some sort of marketing scheme. Apparently, National Doughnut Day is a real holiday that has been around since 1938 when it was created by the Salvation Army to help people in need.
Ron Rupocinski, corporate chef of Krispy Kreme, said:
“In honor of National Doughnut Day, we’re inviting doughnut fans to stop by a local Krispy Kreme shop for a complimentary doughnut. With several delicious, one-of-a-kind doughnuts to select from, including our signature Original Glazed®, you can pick your favorite or discover a new preferred sweet treat for FREE.”
John Costello, Chief Global Marketing & Innovation Officer at Dunkin’ Brands, said:
“As the donut leader, we know first-hand how donuts, perhaps more than any other treat, bring smiles to people’s faces and make everyday moments at home, work and at play a little sweeter. To commemorate this occasion and celebrate this classic treat, we invite everyone to visit Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants on June 3 to enjoy a free donut with a beverage purchase.”
