What Happened To Rebecca Black’s ‘Friday’ Video? Here’s The Truth

If you were trying to get your Friday on this Friday by listening to the Rebecca Black song ‘Friday’ you probably noticed that it was pulled, ironically on Friday (yeah that’s a lot of Friday’s…oops there’s another one). The singer is currently locked in a battle with the Ark Music Factory, the company who recorded her surprising hit.
The issue at the heart of the takedown is whether or not Ark Music Factory has improperly used Black’s image and her hit to profiteer off the single that they may not even own.
Black recorded the song at the company’s studios, however her attorney claims that Ark has marketed her as an “exclusive artist” for their label, even though no such contract exists between the studio and the artist. Her attorney’s also say that the company promised Black the masters to her recording and that most “bona fide record labels would have taken care of such matters rather easily.”
If Rebecca Black’s attorney can prove that the studio did nothing more than work as an “at hire” recording studio for the young artist she could ask for damages to her image and win the exclusive rights to all profits generated to date from her hit single.
