HTC Status Arriving At AT&T On July 17

The “Facebook Phone” also known as the HTC Status is now available for pre-order at AT&T Wireless with an arrival day at July 17. The phone is available for just $49.99 with a two year contract and is available in four color options; black, silver, pink and blue. Along with those offerings Best Buy will offer the Google Android 2.3.3 device in their own special color of mauve.

The Status is AT&T’s first phone to run Gingerbread and also offers the HTC Sense UI while offering one step posting to Facebook walls, shared images, videos and even Facebook Places via the phones Facebook button. The program also offers a chat application and widget along with integration for the phones clock, dialer, calendar, address book and photo gallery apps.

Other features including a 2.6-inch touch display, 5MP camera and a front-side facing VGA camera for video conferencing.

While the phones specs may not be the envy of heavy smartphone users, casual users who are addicted to Facebook and love the feel of a real Smartphone Qwerty keyboard may appreciate the phone and it’s pricing for what it is, a way to fuel their social network addiction.
