Ted Danson Joins ‘CSI’

Actor Ted Danson will be joining the cast of the hit ABC series ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’ this fall as their newest investigator.

The 63-year-old former ‘Cheers’ actor will be playing one of the good guys, which is the complete opposite of his Emmy nominated role as the bad guy on ‘Damages.’ According to reports on People.com, Danson will play chief investigator.

Danson signed on to replace the character Dr. Raymond Langston played by Laurence Fishburne. Fishburne has been on the show for two years and was hired to replace original cast member, William Petersen.

Executive producer Carol Mendelsohn said:

“You can create a new character on the page, but until the perfect actor comes along and breathes life into it, it’s just words. We’re very excited Ted Danson came along.”

Executive producer Don McGill added:

“From the moment we all started talking about the role, it was clear he couldn’t be more perfect. Intelligence, wit, warmth, depth of character and emotion, he brings it all. And now he’ll have to bring latex gloves, too.”
