USA Swimming was dealt a huge blow today when it was disclosed that 36 coaches have been banned for life from the sport after it was revealed that they had been molesting their swimmers over a 10 year period.

In what may be one of the more disturbing cases a coach was secretly videotaping his athletes as they bathed in a “special” shower room. Various other incidents of fondling and various sexual abuses were also reported by ABC News.

The report goes on to state that the coaches itinerant lifestyles allowed many of them to stay one step ahead of authorities. One coach was sentenced to 40 years in prison last year for assaulting more than a dozen female teens, they had evaded police by switching towns when suspicions were aroused.

With a less than stringent background check performed by the governing body for USA swimming and this newest revelation, we fully expect new guidelines and checks to be put into place.
