Washington Lobbyist Firm Promises Banks They Can Discredit Occupy Wall Street

Lobbyists Sam Geduldig and Jay Cranford, partners at Clark Lytle Geduldig & Cranford have sent a letter to Republican lawmakers promising to spread negative stories about Occupy Wall Street for $850,000.
The offer was sent to the American Bankers Association and it the memo they say 2012 Democratic victories:
“Would mean more than just short-term political discomfort for Wall Street. … (T)he bigger concern should be that Republicans will no longer defend Wall Street companies.”
While the ABA admits they received the letter they say there are no plans to act on the invitation.
In the meantime Representative John A. Boehner (R – OH) says his past connection to the lobbying firm has nothing to do with the invitation to discredit the movement which is made up largely of liberal followers. In his denial he says
“Obama is the single largest recipient of donations from Wall Street.”
The Obama administration refuts Boehner’s claim, noting that most donations to the campaign are funded by small donors. A spokeswoman for the Obama administration says, “why were tough financial reforms passed over party line Republican opposition?”
Do you think a lobbying firm could actually discredit the Occupy Wall Street movement? I have a feeling it would simply add more fuel to the fire.
