World’s Worst Soccer Team Finally Wins Game, Breaks 17-Year Losing Streak
Today is a day of celebration in American Samoa, an unincorporated territory of the United States located in the South Pacific Ocean. The American Samoa soccer team recently beat Tonga, 2-1, to break a 17-year-losing streak.
In the last 17 years, the American Samoa team has scored just a dozen goals. That’s less than a goal a year average. Competing teams have done slightly better. American Samoa has allowed 229 goals. According to Newslite, the American Samoa the team has even lost two games by more than 30 goals.
But the team isn’t dwelling in the past anymore. The world’s worst soccer team is now on a one game win streak. Last week American Samoa took a victory over Tonga, 2-1.
