Apparently the birther controversy is still going on in Fulton Country Georgia. President Obama is prepared to ignore a subpoena by Judge Malihi to appear in court on Thursday.

President Obama is set to be in Las Vegas, Denver, and Detroit on Thursday talking about job creation. This comes after the judge rejected a move by Obamas legal team to quash the subpoena requesting him to appear. The claim behind the subpoena is that Obama is not a natural born citizen, and therefore cannot be President.

Behind this movement is Orly Taitz, who will not take the Presidents decision to not attend lightly. Recently she was behind a court case where two soldiers were trying to avoid deployment due to the “fact” that Obama is not a natural born citizen, cannot be the President, and therefore cannot order troops over-seas. The suit was eventually found to be frivolous, and Taitz was slapped with a $20,000 fine.

The real problem here isn’t that Obama is going to ignore a court order, its that the court order is nonsense. It has been almost 4 years since Obama was elected, and the birthers have still not been able find any shred of evidence that shows he was not born in the U.S.. They are a hold over of angry Republicans that cannot adjust to the fact that we have a President whose name isn’t Americanized.

It is ridiculous to continue on this path, and the fact that a judge would still entertain this notion at this point is absurd. The President has very important things to do these days. A war to win, an economy to fix, a campaign to run, and a country to hold together. Does Orly Taitz really thing the most effective thing for the country at this point is to call him away from his duties and bring him to a court in Fulton Country Georgia. Look at the big picture here Taitz.

If Judge Malihi did actually want to do something, he could refer the matter to a superior court, and that judge could enforce the subpoena and hold the President in contempt. But who would hold the President in contempt, it has never happened and will never happen, he is the President. That doesn’t mean his is above the law, but it does mean you better have a damn good case before you go after him and distract the leader of the free world.
