Comfort Inn Capital Beltway Welcomes Capital Fringe Attendees this July
As it has for six years, the Capital Fringe Festival is once again providing excellent theatre and musical productions this July. As the festival draws over 20,000 ticket-buyers, audience members will want to book their accommodations at the Comfort Inn Capital Beltway soon.
Summertime is often a time for large cities to hold theatre festivals. And, of course, Washington, DC does not miss out. Once again, DC will provide exquisite theatre and music shows this year in their Fringe Festival. The city has hosted this festival since 2006. According to Comfort Inn Capital Beltway, the Festival begins July 12.
Since it first began, the festival has grown immensely. The number of ticket-buyers has skyrocketed, now with over 20,000 tickets sold. The length of the festival has also increased from 10 days to 18 days. The shows themselves have also grown in number, up by 30% since 2007.
The Capital Fringe show is particularly exciting. Over the past six years, more than 80,000 world-class artists have graced the Fringe’s stages. The DC Festival is also now the second largest Fringe in the country. Over the course of its six-year run, the Festival has garnered over $1.2M in revenue for the artists involved. It has also seen the premieres of over 250 works of art.
Works range from straight plays, to musically-inspired plays, operas, and music performances. Despite the variety of shows, they all have one thing in common. The concept for all of the Fringe Festival regards the content of the shows. The point of the Festival is to feature shows on the “fringe” of the theatre and music worlds. The Festival strives to spotlight and promote shows of a different nature than the usual theatre fare.
In addition to ticketed shows, Capital Fringe also provides free live music. Every evening during the festival, free music shows will show under the Baldacchino Gypsy Tent. The music ranges from compositional pieces to pop, folk and hip-hop. To see other ticketed shows for free, the Festival allows people to volunteer in the box office to get free tickets.
The Festival is on its seventh annual run in DC. With that in mind, the planners of the festival expect a huge turnout. Attendees who plan to stay in the area for more than one day should plan ahead by booking accommodations soon. The Comfort Inn Capital Beltway welcomes any and all theatre-goers to lodge in their beautiful hotel over the course of the Fringe Festival.
