Phillip Morris Plans Safer Cigarette – Has Regal Cigs Already Beaten Them to the Chase?

 It’s news to no one that smoking cigarettes leads to unwanted health conditions. As the popularity of smoking decreases in society, smokers are switching to electronic cigarettes. Makers of cigarettes are taking notice of this trend. The producer of Marlboro and other cigarette brands, Philip Morris International, is taking steps in response to the e-cig phenomenon. The plans for this cigarette came out to combat the rising popularity of electronic cigarettes. Philip Morris’ CEO Louis Camilleri hopes the new cigarette will change the way smokers and non-smokers alike think about smoking. The goal is to break the mold in the cigarette industry.

The new cigarette would combine the idea of a regular cigarette and an electronic one. According to Philip Morris, the cigarette’s design would eliminate the burning of tobacco inside the cigarette. Instead, smokers would inhale an aerosol produced by heating of the tobacco. This process, probably inspired by the e-cig itself, would allow smokers to continue without as many negative effects.

This development against the e-cig situation doesn’t surprise many in the industry. Many cigarette companies have already made decisions to combat the rising trend of e-cigs. Lorillard, the producers of Kents and Newports, bought over e-cig brand Blu Cigarettes for $130M. It’s purported that Philip Morris and other companies will follow suit and purchase other popular e-cig companies.

Even so, it remains safer for smokers to switch over to an electronic cigarette, claims Regal Cigs. They, among other companies, proudly boast the health benefits of switching to an electronic cigarette. And unlike the larger brands, Regal Cigs’ product is already available for purchase. The best time to switch is now, they say, and not to wait until 2017.
