A recent article delineated which methods are most effective and ineffective for combating holiday pounds. Ineffective strategies include fad diets, says Hydroxycut.

According to an article in The Daily Nebraskan, it’s easy and understandable to gain weight during the holiday season. This is one of the reasons people often resolve to diet and exercise during the New Year. However, many people turn to unproven methods in order to lose weight and fad diets don’t work.

First of all, be wary of any diet plan that promises rapid weight loss in excess of one or two pounds per week. If you have questions, you can always check with a dietician or nutritionist.

Diets to watch out for are trends or fad diets. They offer weight loss and are often cited by celebrities as their reason for their svelte physiques. However, much of the time, these diets sacrifice nutrition that the body needs.

It may be a good idea to cut down on your carbohydrate intake, but eliminating them altogether isn’t nutritionally sound. It also bears mentioning that fad diets are not designed as long-term solutions—most people try them for a period of time, lose weight, and begin eating normally again. The weight comes right back.

Diet pills and weight loss supplements are another method that many people use to lose weight. However, they should not be mistaken for a “miracle cure”, according to Hydroxycut. Their product is designed to facilitate weight loss when combined with diet and exercise—it contains key ingredients clinically proven to work better than diet alone, but it doesn’t magically remove extra pounds.

No matter how you look at it, losing weight requires a certain amount of work. There are a few tricks you can use in order to make it easier, however. For instance, brushing your teeth early in the evening can remove the temptation to snack afterward. Taking the stairs to class or the office can integrate some cardio into your routine.

A diet doesn’t have to be a strict regimen that forever eliminates foods you love. It’s easier when you allow yourself to indulge every once in a while, as long as you balance it with exercise and moderation. Fad diets are dangerous and ineffective, for the most part, because they go to extremes instead of relying on this sense of balance.

Hydroxycut helps people lose weight when combined with an exercise routine and a sensible diet. It also contains caffeine for energy to help you keep up with your busy lifestyle.
