Google Now Spreads Holiday Cheer With ‘Let’s Go Caroling’ Command

Google Now

Google Now is the popular personal assistant built into Android, and also available on iOS devices, and has been updated with a special holiday command. With Google Now or the Google Search app open, simply say “Let’s go caroling.” For Moto X users who have the always listening feature turned on, simply add “OK Google” beforehand.

Great for a Christmas road trip or annoying the neighbors, the command lets you karaoke several holiday classics. You’ll see a prompt that says “Which carol would you like to sing?,” followed by these five songs:

  • Jingle Bells
  • Up on the House Top
  • Deck the Halls
  • O Christmas Tree
  • We Wish You a Merry Christmas

Selecting a song opens up a page with lyrics, and several buttons. The green play button starts playing the music, and the text lights up along the way making sure your caroling is in sync. An arrow button lets you to switch over to a different song, and a red refresh button allows you to start the song over.

Currently, the holiday karaoke feature only appears on mobile. Unfortunately, Google Now can’t physically help some of us become better singers, but once you’re done caroling some holiday classics, you can always say “Singing tips” or something along those lines.
