Another alleged victim of Roman Polanski has come out with allegations that could give lie to Polanski’s assertion that the rape of Samantha Geimer was an “isolated incident.” Charlotte Lewis, who starred with Eddie Murphy in the 1986 film “The Golden Child” claims that Roman Polanski abused her as well, stating that “I am also a victim of Roman Polanski. He sexually abused me in the worst possible way when I was just 16 years old,”
The New York Post reports Charlotte Lewis as meing motivated by the desire to have an impact on Polanski’s sentencing if and when he is extradited to the US to face sentencing for the rape of a 13 year old girl, of which he was convicted in 1978. Charlotte Lewis is represented by celebrity attorney Gloria Allred.
The age of consent in France is 15, meaning that statutory rape laws did not apply to the accusations of Ms. Lewis, who was a year over the age of consent in France at that time. Had she reported the incident at the time, she would have to have alleged force or incapacitation to pursue rape charges. But she did not report the alleged rape at the time or pursue charges. The 28 years that have elapsed since then are far beyond any statute of limitations that would apply. Legal experts believe that her testimony would have no impact on sentencing. The only court in which the Charlotte Lewis rape allegations hold any sway is the court of public opinion, in which Polanski is listed as a Level 3 Five Star pampered slime ball. I would not doubt that there are other stories of Polanski outrages out there. Proving them in a court of law is another matter entirely
