Jennifer Love Hewitt is to play a prostitute in a new made-for-TV movie.
The actress was devastated when her hit show The Ghost Whisperer was cancelled last month after five seasons. Despite the shock of losing her job, Jennifer regrouped quickly and has already signed on to a new project.
She will take the lead in The Client List, a drama about former homecoming queen Samantha Horton, who becomes a prostitute to provide for her family after she and her husband lose their jobs. It is based on a true story, and Jennifer thinks it is particularly relevant in light of the current global economic crisis.
“Given where we are economically, it’s an interesting story,” the star told ET Online. “It’s really a movie about the human condition, and the heart, and where life can take you.”
Jennifer is also a producer on the movie.
The Client List will debut on US network Lifetime in August, and is expected to go into production later this month.
Cybill Shepherd will star opposite Jennifer, playing Samantha’s opinionated mother Cassie.
