P. Diddy Defends Buying Expensive Car For Son
P. Diddy has defended buying his son a $360,000 car for his 16th birthday.
The rapper came under fire back in February when the extravagant gift was made public on the television show My Super Sweet 16. The show documents the flashy birthday parties of wealthy Americans and covered Justin Dior Combs’ ‘Prince of New York’ birthday celebrations.
Music mogul Diddy, real name Sean Combs, has spoken out against the criticism and has discussed his decision to give the teen a sleek silver Maybach vehicle.
“I think it’s appropriate to give my kids whatever I want to give my kids,” he said in an interview on ABC’s Nightline when asked if he thought the gift was appropriate. “I feel the way I raise my children, I don’t have to explain to you or anyone else, ’cause nobody knows the way I raise my children.”
Without going into specifics, the father of six suggested that he had talked about money with his offspring.
“Nobody knows the lessons that I’ve taught my children to understand, if they are mentally ready for that,” he said. “It wasn’t even about a lesson; it’s what I wanted to do. I could do whatever I want to do and you can’t question me about it.”
He also hit out at claims that having six children with different women sets a bad example. “All of my kids are taken care of,” he argued. “They all go to the best schools.”
