Rachel Alexandra Makes History, Takes Woodward Stakes

Rachel Alexandra, the star filly who ran at the Woodward Stakes Saturday made history when she held off Macho Again by a head to take first place, the first time a female has won the prestigious race.
The race was also the 9th win in a row for the 3 year old who will surely clinch the Horse of the Year honors.
During the race Rachel Alexandra fought it out with 2008 Belmont States winner Da Tara before moving into the lead along the backstretch, eventually taking the 1 1/8 mile race with an impressive time of 1:48.29.
