Rob Blake

Rob Blake knew early into his 20th season in the NHL that it would be his last, now he’s made it official with a simple statement about his choice:

“I knew it was the right time. I have no regrets.”

Blake by many accounts was still playing at a much higher level than his 40 year age would have many believe, helping his San Jose Sharks reach the Western Conference Final.

The announcement, which Blake made on Friday won’t be the last we’ll hear from the NHL veteran, a hall of fame speech should be in his future.

Blake has some nice highlights to hold onto:

Helped the Los Angeles Kings to the Stanley Cup final in 199

Won the Norris Trophy as the league’s top defender in 1998

Won the Stanley Cup with Colorada in 2001

Help Canada win a gold medal during hte 2002 Olympic Games

Those are just a few of his accomplishments and we wish all the best to Blake after such a brilliant career. [Freep]
