The New York Yankees have become the first team in the 2009 MLB season to secure a playoff berth after defeating the Angels in an exciting 6-5 victory on Tuesday.
It was the first win in Anaheim this season for the Yanks and it came with a three home run package.

Using the long ball to open up a five-run lead with three home runs, the Yankees earned their first win in Anaheim this season by switching things up with some ninth-inning speed. Brett Gardner singled, stole second on a pitch-out, moved up on a bunt and came home with the eventual winning run on an Alex Rodriguez sacrifice fly.
It was only the 6th time in 24 games that the Yankees have been able to defeat the Angels in what Gardner said felt like a “Playoff game in itself.”
