It’s hard to get panicky about MLB Attendance numbers, on the one hand attendance is down for the season by 6.7% then on the other hand 2009 still recorded the fifth best attendance rate in MLB History.
Those numbers include two new New York Stadiums which seat less spectators and a bad year of ball for the New York Mets.
Average per game attendance for all 30 teams fell from 32,528 to 30,350 in 2009. 73.4 million fans still attended games, which isn’t a bad turnout in a soft economy with unemployment rates at nearly 10%. [inquisitr]
