World Series Game 4 may have gone to the New York Yankees putting them one win away from their first title in six years, however it’s News Corp (owner of Fox television) that have benefited the most from the series, even if the Yankees win the series four games to one.

With close game after close game the series has attracted 50% more viewers than last years World Series when the Phillies took on the Tampa Bay Rays.  Game four played on Sunday night brought in 22.8 million views, the most viewers since the Red Sox defeated the Cardinals in 2004, that game drew 30 million viewers.

Game 3 also brought in a good number of viewers after a one-day rain delay, that game saw 15.4 million watchers tune in.

Fox topped off the day with brilliant daytime numbers as Brett Favre returned to Green Bay as a Minnesota Viking.

Perhaps the $256 million per year News Corp. pays for MLB coverage isn’t such a raw deal after all.
