Ademir Jorge Goncalves a brazilian bricklayer who was reported to have been killed in a Sunday car crash showed up to his own funeral on Monday to the shock and awe of friends and family members.
Apparently Goncalves was out for drinks all night with friends and did not receive word of his “death” until the morning of the funeral. In Brazil funerals are held the day after a persons death.
A police spokesman in the town of Santo Antonio da Platina said the “victim” rushed to his funeral once he realized what had occurred.
The spokesperson told MSNBC:
“The corpse was badly disfigured, but dressed in similar clothing… People are afraid to look for very long when they identify bodies, and I think that is what happened in this case.”
Some family members doubted the corpse was that of Goncalves, however after his aunt and four friends examined the body they agreed it was their friend and relative and proceeded with the ceremony.
