Tiger Woods hasn’t played a match of golf in Australia in 11 years and his return has proven that the world’s number one player doesn’t have to play a course repeatedly to win, Woods sits at 8 under par after Day 2 Friday play.
Woods took the lead from Jason Dufner, a local favorite after four holes on the day. Dufner had previously held the lead with a 5-under 67 for a 7 under total after two days of golf.
Two other Australians, Mathew Goggin and Ashley Hall were also closing in on the American with 6 under performances through two days of play.
Woods has won 14 professional major golf championships and has proven to be in top form at various points throughout the year, so it shouldn’t surprise many people that he’s playing at the top of the list, even with his first shots on Australian soil in 11 years.
