After toying with a few different site bars (the bar located at the bottom of this page) including Wibiya, we’ve decided to make the official transition to Meebo. If you’re unfamiliar with Meebo, they provide online instant messaging without the need to download any software, 100% free of charge.
Meebo supports AIM, Yahoo, Google Talk, ICQ and even Facebook instant messaging all of which can now be found at the bottom bar on our site. Simply log into your account and you can talk to friends as you browse our site and other Meebo supported locations which continue to grow in number.
The Meebo technology also provides a very cool function called “Drag and Drop Sharing” if you hover over the images found on our pages and then drag them you’ll see a set of sharing options including Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, Email and IM (instant messaging). Just drag the photo into one of those options and you can auto share our sites stories. You can see this function in action by looking at the image on this page and dragging that image to test the feature for yourself.
You can also choose to simply click on the “Share Page” button on the bottom left side of each page which will then auto share the post with an image thumbnail and title for you based on the option you choose.
We want to thank Meebo for the chance to use this option which top tier sites including Mashable.com have been experiencing for a little while now.
