Popular discount website Groupon offered its first nationwide deal yesterday. The deal was so huge that the servers at the company completely crashed, Chicago Business reported.

Groupon offers discounts from local merchants everyday to their 10 million subscribers.

On Thursday the company offered a nationwide coupon for popular clothing store Gap. The deal was you could buy $50 worth of items for only $25.

The deal was so popular that Groupon services were overwhelmed with people logging in to take advantage of this amazing deal. It didn’t take long for the site to sell about 534 Gap offers a minute in Chicago. This is the biggest and most successful deal the company has ever provided to consumers.

Groupon is successful because the company offers deals and uses a new way of online advertising through social media to promote their business.

“Brick-and-mortar stores will be our bread and butter,” a spokeswoman said. “We’re not straying away from that. A lot of customers have asked for a national deal, especially for people in cities we haven’t reached yet.”
