Michael Dawson set for eight week layoff
Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Michael Dawson will miss the next six to eight weeks due to the injury he sustained in England’s Euro 2012 qualifier against Bulgaria on Friday night.
The England defender was carried off on a stretcher after falling awkwardly in a game that his side won 4-0.
Spurs official website confirmed the injury by stating: “Scans today (Saturday) have revealed that Michael Dawson has sprained his left medial knee ligament and one of his left ankle ligaments”
“(Dawson) is expected to be out of action for six to eight weeks”
The injury comes as a blow to Spurs manager Harry Redknapp, who had been pleased with Dawson’s form during the early stages of this season.
William Gallas is set to deputise in the centre of defence after the French International joined Spurs during the summer transfer-window.
