Nude photos of Dallas Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett have surfaced on the World Wide Web, scoring a virtual touchdown for admiring fans while embarrassing the team and its management. The pics of Bennett using a camera phone to take nude full body photos of himself in a mirror were allegedly leaked by a former girlfriend and found their way onto the Internet. Graphic photos that show a man with tattooed arms alleged to be Bennett have appeared on several websites, most notably MediaTakeOut.com. Bennett Monday issued an apology in a formal statement.

“These pictures were taken four years ago and placed on the internet without my knowledge or consent. I understand that they are totally inappropriate and for that I am sorry. I regret the embarrassment it has caused the organization,”

Bennett said in his statement, saying the pics were taken before he was a member of the Cowboys.

Bennett played college football for Texas A&M University, where he was a communications major, before being selected by the Cowboys in the 2008 draft. He tied for second on the team in touchdown receptions, third in receiving average, fifth in receiving yards and sixth in receptions his rookie season. He’s been involved with annual team holiday hospital visits, and team-oriented charitable giving with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Texas and other nonprofit groups, according to the Cowboys website.

But Bennett also seems to be a bit of a showman off the field. These latest naked pictures aren’t the first time he’s gotten himself in trouble online. The football player got himself severely tackled over an online video in which he allegedly donned a beard and played a character dubbed “Osama Been Happenin.” He was also reportedly fined $22,000 for YouTube rap video with explicit lyrics in 2009. The Cowboys have apparently tried to get him to change his online behavior, perhaps with limited success. The tight end’s shown on a video titled “Marcellus Bennett: A More Serious Approach” on the Dallas Cowboys website’s multimedia center explaining to reporters why he’s stopped doing “Marty B TV.”

But a person with the moniker Marty B still appears on YouTube and can be linked to Da Cool Society which sells T-shirts and features a group called Moonshine Kids.

“MartyBTv Is Where I Do Whatever It Is I Wanna Do And Record It So Yall Can See it.. And I Don’t Care What Yall Think About Me.. A*%@*#!s…..”

says the Marty B TV profile, which lists age as 23 and occupation as “Professional Athlete Rapper Small Biz Owner.”
