PS3 Update 3.30 Brings Bitstream Audio, Remote Play PC Support

Sony PS3 Slim

Sony’s newest update 3.30 is offering more than just 3D support, it’s also offering a few new additions that will improve the user experience for blu-ray videos and PC support.

New features include raw and pre-mixed bitstream audio for Blu-ray movies when using optical audio on PS3 Slim and other bitstream hardware supported versions of the gaming console.

Users will also enjoy “play from PC” support on “future models” of VAIO computers which will provide access over the users local network. VAIO features for the new update are expected by Sony in May. In the past only PSP models were able to use remote play functionality. [Electronista]

If you can wait until the day after Christmas to buy console and Nintendo DS games you could be in for quite the savings. Toys R Us has announced that they will offer video games with a “buy one, get one half off special.”  The one day sale includes PS2, PS3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii, plus any Nintendo DS games priced at $20 or less.

PS3 Slim Sales Defeat Wi For First Time Since 2006

Towards Christmas 2006  a tiny little gaming system known as the Nintendo Wii debuted. Since that time the system has left its competitors in the dust, until now. PS3 sales, thanks to a new slim design and price drop have surpassed Wii sales two weeks in a row.
