According to team sources, Terrell Owens manager Drew Rosenhaus spoke to Rams management and said he would consider a serious contract proposal, despite the team not being considered a playoff contender for the upcoming season.

According to ESPN:

A high-ranking Rams official said a formal offer for Owens could come on Monday.

If the Rams land Owens, he would be able to take some stress away from current receivers, including rookie Mardy Gilyard. Owens could also help give running back Steven Jackson a little bit of help by forcing offenses to focus on his on-field presence.

T.O.’s decision is still up in the air with the Cincinnati Bengals also reportedly talking to the star wide receiver.

With a very aggressive Rams push for T.O. some sources believe he could sign with the team in 48 to 72 hours.

The St. Louis Dispatch today has announced that Rams owners Chip Rosenbloom and Lucia Rodriquez have agreed to sell the NFL franchise to Shahid Khan, an auto-parts manufacturer based out of Urbana, Illinois.

According to that same report, Khan is an “enthusiastic Rams fan” who plans on keeping the team in St. Louis.

Chip Rosenbloom and Lucia Rodriguez, must now get a three-fourths approval vote by current NFL owners and then complete the transfer of thier ownership. For Rams fans the move will hopefully mean better front office management for a team that has been greatly mishandled over the years. [St Louis Post-Dispatch]

According YAHOO! reports, Prejean, 22, described the proposal as something similar to a scene from the 2004 romantic movie ‘The Notebook,’ which starred Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams.

The NFL has been trying to clean up their image for years, they’ve even setup required press conferences and “dress codes” for NFL players, alongside strict drug testing. Now Commissioner Roger Goodell has reiterated the leagues goal of avoiding controversy, by stating that he doesn’t believe an NFL owner should make the type of controversial statements that TV Talk show host Rush Limbaugh has made in the past.

“I’ve said many times before we’re all held to a high standard here, and I think divisive comments are not what the NFL is all about,” He said during today’s owner meeting “I would not want to see those comments coming from people who are in a responsible position in the NFL, absolutely not.”

Goodell made the statement in anticipation of a bid by Rush Limbaugh for the St. Louis Rams, a bid Limbaugh is considering with St. Louis Blues owner Dave Checkett.

Any accepted buyout would require 3/4th of owners agreeing on the move, an unlikely situation given the controversy surrounding Limbaugh and the potential deal.

Just a quick question, why is a man who was caught buying drugs illegally even being considered as a potential buyer for a league that has long fought against players who partake in illegal drugs? Worse yet, this wouldn’t mean Limbaugh as announcer would it? After all the game is not only played on the right side of the field.

“Dave and I are part of a bid to buy the Rams, and we are continuing the process. But I can say no more because of a confidentiality clause in our agreement with Goldman Sachs. We cannot and will not talk about our partners. But if we prevail we will be the operators of the team.”

Goldman Sachs is brokering the deal between current owners and prospective buyers. Current owners include the children of the late Georgia Fortiere who own 60 percent of the teams stake and real estate mogul and billionaire Stan Kroenke who owns the other 40 percent.

The team could fetch up to it’s “valued” price of $929 million, although current offers are placing the team at $850 million.

We’re not sure where this deal will lead, but if any “drug” scandals pop up over the horizon, it could be the first time they involve the owner and not the players.
