Did you know that 86% of younger Americans would like to be Instagram influencers? It’s no secret that it’s a coveted “job,” and there are plenty of perks, including brand deals, passive income, and of course, a bit of fame.
Whether you’ve got dreams of being an influencer or you’re trying to get more social media traction to help with your business or hobby Instagram profile, you probably know that it’s not easy. Getting Instagram views is harder than it looks!
We’re here to talk about how to get engagement on Instagram so you can start growing your page. Read on for some of the hottest tips.
Use the Question Sticker
This is one of the best and easiest ways to get engagement and have some fun while you’re using Instagram. Next time you’re bored, post a story with the “questions” sticker.
The default is going to say “ask me a question,” which is good for “ask me anything” style stories, but you can get creative. You can also ask for suggestions from your followers for things like books, stores, movies, and more.
Once you get some responses, start responding to those responses in your stores. All you have to do is tap on a response, and you’ll be able to post it to your story.
This is fun for you and your followers alike, so try it on a quiet afternoon when you’re feeling bored and social.
Use the “Add Yours” Sticker
The “add yours” sticker is somewhat new on Instagram, but it’s another great way to boost engagement. You can either make your own or use someone else’s.
When you see someone post a story with the “add yours” sticker, you can click on the sticker and notice that it likely has hundreds of responses already. You can then make your own response.
People may click on your story when they look through who’s responded to the sticker. You’ll attract Instagram views from people who would never have otherwise seen your profile!
You can also create your own trending “add yours” sticker. Try to come up with something fun and creative. What do you think people would like to post about?
Ask a Question in a Caption
Your stories aren’t the only place that you can put questions. When you put a question (or another call-to-action) in the captions of your Instagram posts, you’re welcoming engagement.
Questions don’t have to be serious. Try asking about something relevant to your post. For example, if you were posting fashion content, ask followers what their favorite online shop is.
People love sharing their opinions online, solicited or not. They’ll be happy to take the opportunity to talk about things that they enjoy.
Share Helpful Information
Have you ever noticed how many “how-to” style posts and reels hit your “explore” page, even if they’re about content that you have no real interest in? It’s because those posts get plenty of engagement.
Think about something educational or helpful that fits your niche. No matter what you like to post (as long as it’s not strictly a lifestyle or personal page), you should be able to find something.
Artists can post tips about art or art supplies; marketers can give marketing advice; counselors can share mental health content, and so on.
People spend a lot of time on Instagram, and they end up getting a lot of their information there. If you present helpful information in a digestible way, people will be interested in reading (and even sharing) it. You’ll also get a lot of saves!
Create Sharable Content
Speaking of people sharing your content, make sure that you post content that’s worth sharing.
When you post a new photo or Reel that you want to get a lot of engagement, consider whether or not it’s something that you’d share if you saw it on someone else’s profile. That selfie? Not sharable.
Balance out less-sharable posts with super sharable posts while you’re trying to figure out how to get views on Instagram. You can even post something more sharable in the same carousel with your less-sharable content.
For example, you can post your selfie, but consider balancing it out with a funny meme or a nice non-selfie photo.
You’ll get more likes and more shares. More likes will help you get onto the explore page. You can also use this site if you’re struggling to get enough likes to even get started.
Respond to Comments and Posts
This might seem obvious, but so many Instagrammers aren’t doing it! They want engagement, but they refuse to actually engage with their followers.
Remember that Instagram is social media (keyword: social). If you’re not socializing with the people who follow you, they may be disinclined to continue following.
This isn’t to say that you have to respond to every comment. Make sure that you engage at least a bit and respond to relevant comments. This will encourage more comments (and you’ll be boosting your own engagement).
If people tag you in posts, comment on those as well (or share them). Again, not every post will require a comment, but your followers will love it if you pay attention to them. It makes you look more social and down-to-earth.
That’s How to Get Engagement on Instagram
Figuring out how to get engagement on Instagram is going to be a trial-and-error process. Not every method is going to work for every person, but mix and match a few of these methods until you start seeing results.
